Dr. Bhavbhuti Parasharya was a prominent figure in agricultural ornithology, wetland preservation, and avian studies in India. His lifelong research, particularly on wetland birds, bird habits in agricultural ecosystems, and the nesting behaviors of target species, helped shape local nature policies and conservation systems. To keep his vision alive, VNC India established this fellowship program to support independent, hands-on field researchers who seek to understand and conserve India's bird species.

We support rigorous scientific work that delivers measurable conservation outcomes.
Projects must focus exclusively on native species and natural habitats in India.
Preference is given to projects addressing threatened or data-deficient species and underexplored habitats in Western India.
Proposals must include clear indicators of conservation impact along with a realistic monitoring plan.
Nationality: Indian national and current resident of India.
Age Limit: 25 years of age or younger.
Education: Current or recently completed Master's degree student.
Funding Status: The project must not have received prior funding, and you must not have access to major external funding for this specific work.
Application Limit: Only one application per candidate is permitted per calendar year.
Open from 5 July to 15 August via VNC's online portal.
Presentations and panel interviews of shortlisted applicants on 19 September.
Awardees officially announced and published on 23 September.
Initiation of the fieldwork and scientific monitoring for up to 6 months.
Applications must be submitted in English through our official online portal. Scientific merit, feasibility, and clarity of thought are the primary criteria for selection. English language proficiency will not be used to judge or penalize your proposal.
